Heat pumps have taken off in Ireland in the last 10yrs and now the first port of call when one plans on heating a new or renovated home.
Very efficient and brilliant way to heat a home but the fabric of your house needs to be right for a Heat Pump to be the correct choice.
What do we mean when we say fabric? Simply put – how well is your home insulated and how air tight is it? No point in wearing a nice warm hat with holes in it right?!
As BER assessors, we can establish how good your homes fabric is – this is known as the HLI (Heat Loss Indicator) Value. This will determine if a Heat Pump is right for you.
There are many different types of Heat Pumps and manufactures out there to choose from, our advice is ensure the manufacturer is compliant with the Ecodesign and Energy Labelling Directive or has EN14825 / EN16147 test data. Using this information, you can compare the efficiencies.
